Irish moss gel can be added to many foods and it works very well as a thickener. From this gel I will show you to make a variety of different Irish Moss recipes and treats.

Steps

1
Done
4-6 hours

Soak the Irish moss

Soak the dried Irish moss overnight for about 4-6 hours.

2
Done

Rinse the Irish moss

Once soaked and re-hydrated rinse it thoroughly.

3
Done
5-10 minutes

Blend it

Add the Irish moss and 1 cup of water to a blender. Adding less water will make a thicker gel the amount can be varied. Let it blend for a few minutes. It may take a while for it to gel up. Continue until you get a gel

4
Done

Add Star Anise and Grapeseed

I like to add a dash of star anise and a teaspoon of grape seed oil (optional).

5
Done

Refridgerate

After your gel has formed pour it into a glass container for storage in the refrigerator. It should last about 2 weeks. The gel will further thicken as it cools down.
